Names like Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Heidi Klum are recognized worldwide. Same is the case with male supermodels like Marcus Schenkenburg, Mark Vanderloo, Antonio Sabato Jr and Hoyt Richards.

Male and female models literally starve themselves to achieve the reed thin shape that is considered perfect for the ramp. The plight of the male models is slightly better when compared to that of the female models. Many of the male models sport muscular figures and are successful, but the female models have to maintain the skin and bones look. A lot of the modern day observers have said that this is an unhealthy trend and that a curvy female body is far more pleasing to the eye.
