Film, Television, Casting

Filmmaking is a relatively young art form. But it has captured the imagination of people like no other. Films have great influence on the global population. The Lumiere brothers kick started this greatest revolution in entertainment history. The moving pictures have fascinated and moved generations of moviegoers. Filmmaking has grown from strength to strength and the possibilities are truly endless. Technology has grown in leaps and bounds opening up this great art form to endless innovations and possibilities.

Of all the art forms, films have struck the strongest bond with the audience. The magic of the silver screen has become an escape from reality for millions of filmgoers. The birth of television can be considered to be the second great revolution of the modern age. The “Idiot box” has created a world with no borders. The Television industry owes a lot to the film industry that primed the audience for the magic of moving, living images.

While technology has played a major part in the popularity of the film and television industries, the most visible components of both the industries are the actors. They are the face of the entertainment industry. When we speak of actors we cannot forget models. They are performers and artists in their own right. A lot of histrionics is required in advertisements and even ramp walks. The audience is only subconsciously aware of the technical aspects of filmmaking and television production. They respond to the faces that appear on screen. That is why casting is considered to be one of the most integral parts that decide the success of a film, television program or advertisement.

Actors today have become popular beyond imagination. Most of the actors start off as models. Modeling is a surefire way to get noticed by the film and television industry. When we speak of the media industry, we should remember that casting is not confined to actors alone. The models, news anchors, video jockeys and program hosts all have to be cast properly. Their popularity and success will play a major role in deciding the success of any show or film.

Advertising is closely linked to the film and television industry. Many of the models that later on make it as actors get their initial break in advertisements. Modeling agencies are inundated with requests because youngsters realize that the modeling profession could be their ticket to superstardom.

The film and television industry has been in the forefront of social and cultural change globally. The magic of the moving images and the faces of the stars on the silver screen will continue to influence all future generations!
